We are very pleased to inform that our colleague and friend, Dr Hab. Eng. Bogdan B. Kosmowski, Professor Emeritus at the Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), received on 24.04.2017 the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland.


Professor Bogdan B. Kosmowski is an expert in Optoelectronics.

As a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation scholarship, he conducted pioneering research in this field at Karlsruhe University (TH Fridericiana) between 1979-81 and in 2003. at the University of Stuttgart.

He joined Societas Humboldtiana Polonorum (SHP) in 1992 and since then held many positions in our Association – most notably, he was a member of the Board of the Gdansk SHP Branch and a member of the Board of Directors of SHP. During two terms, 1998-2001 and 2001-2004, he was the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of SHP.

Professionally associated with the Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), he was a professor at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, where he headed the Department of Optoelectronics. He was also the Vice-Dean for Science of this Faculty and a member of the GUT Senate and the chairman of the Senate Science Committee.

His scientific achievements comprise 7 patents, 6 promoted PhDs in technical sciences, many scientific publications and more than 200 citations.
