2014-07-15-Nominacja-wierzbickaMariola Wierzbicka, PhD, the Head of the German Philology Institute and of the Manager of the Contrastive and Applied Linguistics Department of the University of Rzeszów, was awarded the professorial degree in humanistic sciences on 5 June 2014.

Professor Wierzbicka has been involved in research and teaching German and Polish contrastive grammar, synchronic and diachronic studies on the syntax-semantics-pragmatics interface with special interest within syntactic semantics, lexical semantics of verbs and tenses, the phenomenon of temporality, causality, modality and aspectuality in broader contexts.

The long-term engagement of professor Wierzbicka in the teaching and spreading of the German language in Poland is particularly important for our Association in the context of supporting and promoting of the Polish-German cooperation in the academic field. We are very happy that the endeavours of the members of the Association of Alexander von Humboldt Foundations Fellows in Poland are appreciated in the Polish academic communities. We would like to pass on our sincerest appreciation to professor Wierzbicka and wish her the best success in future.
